Shop Black-owned Caribbean businesses this Black-Owned Friday
The “BLACK-OWNED FRIDAY” campaign was launched in 2020 and aims to turn the biggest spending day of the year into an annual event to support Black-owned businesses by boosting visibility in Google search engines results during the holiday season to shop and support Black-owned businesses.
According to a consumer survey that Google and the U.S. Black Chambers, Inc. commissioned, 66% of consumers who actively support Black-owned businesses say they use digital tools to find them.
A big part of digital marketing is making sure your business’s website has up-to-date information about your products or services so that when people search for what you offer, your website ranks higher in their results. Having an active social media presence can also help drive traffic to your site, which is especially important during the holidays when more people are looking for gifts to buy for friends and family.
If you’re a Black Caribbean business owner, one way to be sure you’re showing up for searches like “Black-owned businesses near me” or “Black-owned Jewelry near me” is to add the Black-owned business attribute on your My Carnival Match business page.
It’s simple. Log into your account, then go to “Edit Business Page.” Scroll down to “Claim Your Page.” Enter your business name and address, then select the category that best describes your business. Finally, select the Black-owned attribute in the drop-down menu.
This will ensure that you are connected with Black consumers who are searching for Black-owned businesses. We hope you have an amazing Black Friday and Cyber Monday!
There are other ways to show up for searches, too. According to Google, if your business is located in the U.S., you should claim your local business listing on Google My Business.
If you’re not yet on Google My Business, you can claim and manage your local business listings there. Just make sure that your hours of operation, contact info, photos, and service area are all accurate.
Next, make sure that you’re using location extensions in all of your ads to tell people exactly where you are (if they don’t already know). To get started with location extensions for text ads, click the menu icon in an ad group or campaign and choose “Create new location extension”. After pasting in your address, choose “Confirm” to make sure that the information looks correct.
Once your extensions are set up, any time someone searches near your location in Google Search or Maps, they’ll see an ad with the location extension showing how far away you are. This helps potential customers find you faster when they’re ready to buy!
